For a few tense hours, the trusted elite of North Korea’s ruling class and intelligentsia was deprived of internet access. For most people, this meant being unable to see exciting footage of Kim Jong Un’s visit to a catfish farm. So just what exists in North Korea’s .kp domain? There is a website that lists North Korean websites ranging from sites for North Korean airlines to music and literature. Some sites are multilingual, and others might put you at the mercy of Google Translate.

Whether you are dealing with nations or individuals, it always pays to listen to people, even when you know that they are lying. Because even lies give you an insight into what a person values, and what they want you to believe. In that light, please check out the strange world of cyberspace in the DPRK.

Wow–really interesting. I did not realize that North Korea had there own website domain and could be accessed by the west. Do you think the cut to the internet had anything to do with the release of the movie, the Internet?

    (Also, the meme is awesome)

I like the meme–I’d say it is really funny, except that it is probably true.
