Demonstrations against Islamisation have taken place in Germany, leading to attempts to paint citizens with concerns about radical Islam as “racist”. The organisation leading the demonstrations in Germany is PEGIDA Pegida stands for Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes (PEGIDA, in English: “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the Occident”.

The logo of Pegida, shows a man tossing extremist emblems into a waste basket. Along with the ISIS flag, the logo shows a Nazi flag and a communist emblem being trashed. Germany has had problems with recruitment by radical groups in mosques, as well as Germans going to fight in Syria. Since Germany is a part of the European Union, fears that Islamist political violence that is commonplace in France and Muslim rape gangs that are widespread in Sweden and Norway and Britain could become concerns in Germany.

Calling people who are concerned about Islamist violence is  a very good way to create public anger that could benefit Neo-Nazis and other extremists. Moderate Muslims are also intimidated by the radicals in their communities. There are some efforts being made to provide expressions of Islamic identity to youth that are not violent or predatory.

In the aftermath of  the hostage incident in Sydney, Australia, slandering opponents of radical Islam is counter-productive and unjust to the citizens who take part in such demonstrations.
