An Appreciative Look at Afrikaaner Rock Music [Videos]

Teerpad (Afrikaans for tarmac) is a South African rock band that sings in Afrikaans, a language that i derived mainly from Dutch and understood in its spoken and written form by speakers of Dutch. Afrikaans, along with English, is one of the two languages brought to South Africa by whites. The follwing two videos are from Teerpad.

The Group Ysterkoei (Iron cow) also sings in Afrikaans. Following are two songs from this group, which is also from South Africa.

The following video “Kan ek met jou dans” (Can I dance with you?”) is from the group “straaatligkinders”

The folowing song is from Nicholis Louw.
