When Rick Santorum criticised the Dutch policy of euthanasia, he was roundly and hysterically criticised for criticising a policy deemed “humane” and “progressive”. With terms like “death with dignity” and “right to die” as well as “quality of life” put man at the top of a judgmental pyramid. In so doing, the intellect is degraded from the moralcompass and conscience of man to an anaesthetic for the conscience.
Holland does not only “put to sleep” terminally and painfully ill people, but also people who are retarded or severely handicapped. Even people who are severely depressed can get a note from two doctors and be put to death. It can truly be said that the Nazi idea that there is no G-d to whom life belongs, that life can be ended by human beings for reasons of convenience and perceived value is completely acceptable.
Just as there were good Germans who resisted Hitler, there are good Dutch people who do notbow to moral fashion and oppose euthanasia. Yesterday, I ran an editorial supporting his criticism of “mercy killing” in Holland. Because I fear that the Dutch moral illness could become widespread in all 50 states in America, I feel that such moral evil should be criticised wherever it is found.
The following link deals with “mercy killing” in Europe. The documentary deals with the Nazi “euthanasia” program. I hope all of my readers will take a hard critical look at the slippery moral slope down which we as a society are descending. There are aspects of Nazi ideology that are alive and well today, especially in Holland, a country that produced many eager Nazi collaborators. If the truth hurts, then so be it.
